Imaging of the Posterior Segment is a comprehensive educational and scientific resource that integrates modern retinal imaging techniques, clinical interpretation, and technological innovation, with contributions from more than 40 authors.
The volume reflects the shared expertise of Italian and international professionals and specialists in the field of academic ophthalmology, as well as their commitment to translating rapidly evolving imaging technologies into meaningful and practical applications for clinical practice and research.
For these reasons, this volume provides a comprehensive overview of the imaging of the posterior segment, offering readers a broad and up-to-date perspective on this rapidly evolving field.

Stanislao Rizzo, Full Professor of Ophthalmology at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and Director of the Ophthalmology Unit at Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS, Rome, Italy. He is internationally recognized for his expertise in vitreoretinal surgery, retinal diseases, and technological innovation in ophthalmology. His scientific and clinical activity has contributed to the development and implementation of advanced surgical and retinal imaging technologies. He is the founder and driving force behind FLORetina–ICOOR, an international meeting dedicated to innovation in retinal and ophthalmic research, bringing together clinicians, surgeons, researchers, and industry leaders from around the world.

Maria Cristina Savastano, Adjunct Professor of Ophthalmology at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and Clinical Research Coordinator at the Ophthalmology Unit, Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS, Rome, Italy. Her clinical and scientific activity is primarily focused on retinal diseases and advanced multimodal retinal imaging, with particular expertise in optical coherence tomography (OCT), OCT angiography, ultra-widefield imaging, retinal biomarkers, and the integration of novel imaging technologies into clinical research. Her work bridges clinical practice, technological innovation, and translational research, with a particular interest in the use of quantitative imaging for disease characterization, prognosis, and personalized patient management.
