Questo saggio analizza l’applicabilità del modello gravitazionale agli studi urbani e regionali, con particolare attenzione alla dimensione spaziale. L’analisi prende avvio dalle teorie di Isard e dai successivi sviluppi di Harris, Tinbergen e Tobler. Vengono esaminate le principali caratteristiche del modello e la sua rilevanza per l’analisi dei flussi economici tra regioni. Infine, si discute come le tecnologie digi-tali possano incidere sul ruolo della distanza nelle interazioni spaziali.
